So I was about to purchase a new domain a while ago. Then when I went to my settings page to buy a domain, this showed up.
I know some other users of blogspot.com have experienced this same issue. What really surprised me is that (correct me if I'm wrong), blogger had this issue on the 9th of September. But the thing is, webmasters were still allowed to purchase a domain from Blogger just to find out that the domain they purchased are still not working. It just means, that they have known the issue and yet haven't acted or at least stopped the webmasters from buying the domain.
Sadly until now, no words from Bloggers on how long it would take to fix this issue. They could have at least emailed the users regarding the problems and not just saying that they are doing their best to fix it. I know that we should be thankful because Bloggers doesn't charge us for anything, but how about webmasters like me who spends for the hosting of my domain. I do hope that this issue would be fix sooner or later. I was really excited with the new domain thing until this happened. Oh well :)

Looks like we need to wait a little further more. Blogger Team doesn't even care to tell us how long this might take.
ReplyDeletesame issue here also.
ReplyDeleteTotally irresponsible of Bloggers I must say.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree. I think blogger should refund everyone that has purchased since the 9th. I bought my custom domain out of good faith that it will work and now, I am just crap out of luck. thank you for putting this up as a public notice.
ReplyDeleteSad to say but realistically speaking I doubt that they'll refund our money
ReplyDeleteForward your custom domain to your blogspot address and mask it. It'll show up with the domain name you purchased. That's what I did!
ReplyDeleteLivingtru.com
i dom't understand what about are they thinking...?!
ReplyDeleteIt's already a week after that issue...
I think that the Blogger team likely to terminate the service of Custom Domain
ReplyDeleteHardly. This problem only affected a handful of blogs. They are not going to bite the hand that feeds them (ads). If anything, they may try to collect a fee, but I even doubt that. Google makes a lot of money giving stuff away free. Yet, people still complain about it.
DeleteJust wondering why they haven't issued an actual statement regarding the issue. I mean, common their probably one if not the biggest name in the online community.
DeleteThey should start talking about problems. They status blog is dead anyways, so all of us were left in the dark trying to figure out what was happening.
DeleteThat's what exaclty is frustrating. No words from Blogger til now
ReplyDeleteStill no updates.... what did we pay for? Getting stuck? I purchased the domain on 10- Sep, why did they even allow me to purchase?
ReplyDeletehttp://beingtraveler.com (which never worked)
As much as we'd like to bombard Blogger with all our rants, I don't think we can do anything much more than this. Really frustrated with how things are going right now. I Should've chosen wordpress on the first place.
DeleteI find it funny though how blogger/blogspot acts perfectly fine while its free but as soon as they received payment for a custom domain my blog went from having a few issues to not being there at all,It has been almost a week it is making me angry & now my followers/sponsors are upset as well.
ReplyDeleteNo word from blogger but they were more than happy to process they payment for everything.
I also have advertisers who already agreed once I set up the new domain. Then this happens. What the f*ck right?
DeleteHow do you guys get advertisers? I am fairly new to this thing....
ReplyDeleteI´m in Spain and have the same problem.
ReplyDeleteI have had my blog here since 2009. Just purchased the custom domain name on the 9th and my blog has been MIA ever since with the dreaded 404 error code. Very frustrating!
ReplyDeleteits about time *facepalm*
ReplyDeleteYou should switch to Wordpress. No issues here.
